Who Needs GPL?
Singapore government has worked out different laws that support families in raising their children. Childcare leave scheme is the form issued by the government to be filled out by the employees. This form is one out of the series of government-paid leave schemes created for individuals with children between 7 and 12 years old.
What is GPL for?
The main purpose of this scheme is to get child care leave benefits. For this an employee must meet specific eligibility criteria. They are as follows:

They must be working at particular company for no less than 3 months

They have children who are between 7 and 12-year-old

Children are Singapore citizens.
Is GPL Accompanied by Other Forms?
Besides this scheme an employee must attach child’s Singapore citizenship.
When is GPL due?
This form is filled out before taking the childcare leave.
How Do I Fill out GPL?
Childcare leave scheme is rather simple. Generally, it doesn’t pose any difficulties. The form consists of three pages followed by the instructions. The scheme is divided into seven parts. It starts with the block specifying which type of leave an employee is going to take. It may be an ordinary leave for children who are below 7 years old and extended leave for children between 7 and 12 years old.

Part 1 asks for the details about the employee such as name, position and the date when employee joined the company;

Part 2 is for details about the youngest child of an employee

Part 3 requires child’s Singapore citizenship

Part 4 specifies the beginning and the end of the childcare leave

Part 5 contains information about previous childcare leave if any

Part 6 is used by an employee to declare that they’ve provided true and clear information

Part 7 is for employer’s use.
Where Do I Send GPL?
When an employee has finished completing the scheme, they must submit it to the employer. The employer keeps this form for the records for three years.
